Speak To Your Body #Love #Sex #Marriage

Why is talking about sex so taboo in the church and why does everyone act like no one is doing it? I had to ponder these questions when I watched this video. I have never been one to hold back how I feel, but it is ABOUT TIME someone addressed this directly! R&B/Soul singer, Marcell "The Voice" Russell addresses this issue directly with his video, Speak To Your Body.  This video has seemed to ruffle a few feathers and when you see it, you will know why!

Sex within marriage is one of the most beautiful things that one can experience, so why does it not get celebrated? If we as a society entertain sexually explicit music videos everyday on television and we feed our brains with suggestive lyrics from the radio, why can't married folks have hot, passionate, intimate lovemaking? It makes no sense to me. I am not saying that married couples should "drop it like it's hot" in public, but what is sexier than your wife or husband and the intimacy you share in the marriage bed? My answer is, NOTHING! So, take a look at this AMAZING video and feel free to share your comments!

Ms. Khan...Tells Us Something Good!

I LOVE Chaka Khan and she looks AMAZING! She showed up on the Wendy Williams Show as a surprise guest this week and it brought Wendy to tears. Wendy's staff got one over on her, interrupting the 'Hot Topics' segment with the arrival of Ms. Khan. Watch the video as Ms. Khan dishes on her recent weight loss, her new line of fine chocolates called: Chakalates and her new line  Khana Sutra candles!

Hone Your Craft and Pay Your Dues! Don't Get Distracted!

Hello Lovelies!

It's event season, so I have been busy, but I wanted to take the time to post before the Easter festivities set in.  I work hard to hone my crafts and never think that I am above learning something new...everyday!  When I get tired and worn out working on building my business, one of my best friends always says that I am just paying my dues. Indeed!

While I love networking online like the next person, the social networks can often distract you.  Some folks start to make it their measure of where they are in their success and it becomes like poison.  Stop worrying about what people have to say and stay in your own lane!  Move to your own beat and rock like a star in your space!

I watched this video this morning and it inspired me to write this post.   Dawn Richard (formerly of Danity Kane) has been through the ups and downs in the music business, yet she continues to rise above.  She is now an independent artist and she has not missed a step at all!  On top of the sultry voice, it is clear that she is not trying to be just another pretty face.  Look at the hard work and intricate steps in this choreography.  The song is called BOMBS, off of her new EP entitled Armor On. Listen closely to the words of the song and you will see how it ties into this post.

Watch the practice session video first and then the official video and you will see what it REALLY means to HONE YOUR CRAFT & PAY YOUR DUES!

Stay Lovely!

The 54th Grammy's...The Good...I Will Not Speak Bad-ly...And I Will REFRAIN From The Ugly!

There is so much I could say, but I will keep it to just a few positive points of the show...it's only fair and professional.

Mr. James Todd Smith...aka LL Cool J, is from my native Queens, NY.  He brought his swagger and well...he was just as smooth as silk.  Leading off a prayer for Whitney Houston (RIP), was wonderful to see and I am glad the Grammy's chose him to do the hosting.  It was a change of pace and he did us New Yorkers proud!  If you didn't already know, LL holds two Grammy's for earlier works in his Hip Hop career.

Adele...This classy lady makes me smile! She has poise and doesn't need fancy overtones to deflect because of lack of skills.  She is what the Grammy's are supposed to be about...raw talent!  Most of her music is just a piano and her voice.  She swept all six categories that she was nominated in and gave a wonderful performance of her chart-topping hit, "Rolling In The Deep".

It is hard to believe this young lady had throat surgery this past November.  If she hadn't, her voice would be in question for the long haul, so thanks to those doctors that removed a benign polyp on her vocal chords. I dig her style and the way she carries herself, all at the ripe old age of 23!? Yes, there is still hope for the young singing divas coming up behind her...Amen to that!

Foo Fighters...I have loved them for a long time...ever since their Mentos Mint spoof video. LOL!  They are true rockers and Dave Grohl can sang!  Yes, SANG! I believe they are 11 Grammy's deep with last night's additions.  Congrats on the armful of Grammy's fellas!

Tony Bennett...Another Queens, NY native...Old-School style! Folks just entering the music world need to take a tip from this man! He ALWAYS manages to stay relevant with the younger folk! How? I don't know, but whatever the formula...it is working.  He is still winning Grammy's and picked up two more last night.  Bennett now holds a whopping seventeen Grammy's under his belt! Not too bad for 85 years young, huh?

Bruno Mars...THIS DUDE! When he told the audience to get up off of their rich a**es...I laughed so hard, almost to tears...but when the camera panned out, folks got up and started dancing...HILARIOUS! This young man is mega talented and if you didn't jam to his performance last night, you need a pulse!  More Grammy's are in his future (He has one to-date).  Bruno Mars is a complete entertainer...we need more of his type back in the music business!

Lastly, I wanted to share this ~> video <~ of Adele speaking with journalist Anderson Cooper.  In a business where talent is sadly not always what keeps people on top, Adele proves that she is the genuine article.  No smoke and mirrors here, folks!

RIP Don Cornelius...Another ICON Gone...

So many people have probably looked at Mr. Cornelius and thought, 'this man put soul music on the map and gave the Black Community a voice that was almost unheard of for the times. Why would he just up and take his own life? This is true and factual, but do we REALLY know what personal demons this man may have been struggling with? Many times, these signs go overlooked and often ignored!

NEVER Envy Anyone and What They SEEM To Have On The Outside, Because You Don't Know What Burdens They Carry On The Inside!

I say this because you will have folks who walk around like nothing touches them, affects them, sways or weakens them, but in fact, they are existing in a living hell. There is nothing wrong with struggle, it makes you stronger. There is nothing wrong with being vulnerable, it makes you more aware the next time. It is okay to just BE...Just know that BEING can be GREAT! Yes, REPEAT that to yourself and REALLY understand the statement.

Years and years ago, I used to be jealous of what the seemingly happy & successful "Jones's" had until I realized, that they were just has jacked up as the rest of us...sometimes worse! It was then, that I decided I was not going to strive for unattainable goals just because The Jones's portrayed so!

Here is what I believe. God has a plan for our lives and no matter what we do and say, that plan WILL be carried out because it just IS! I do not believe that we have a say on any of it...and the problems we may experience? I truly believe are because we didn't adhere to the road map that was set out for us. Think about it....folks ALWAYS say: "Hind sight is 20/20"...C'mon! This simply means, you saw the possible pitfalls, you were given chances to step away...sent signs of warning and you still ignored them! Hence, there is a divine plan that cannot be ignored.

I am saddened at the passing of Mr. Cornelius in this manner, it is a tough reminder that NO ONE is beyond fear and hopelessness. But don't let those things get you to such a dark place that you feel you cannot go on.  Ask for help before it's too late, but most of all, be happy and satisfied with the blessings that God has given you!  Do you know how special YOU are? How much YOU matter? Don't let ANYONE make you feel less-than, because as this situation has shown us, no one is infallible!

RIP Don Cornelius - Sunrise: February 27, 1936 - Sunset: February 1, 2012

What's Bumpin' On My iPod...

Georgia native, Anthony David, just does it for me! He is still fairly new to the mainstream music world, but he stays consistent with his rich vocals and timeless music. He has a new album, As Above, So Below, which is expected to be out in March 2011. He gave us a sneak-peek with this single, 4Evermore. If you have not heard it before, listen to the words. Anthony David is a very soulful brother, with deep lyrics to match. Enjoy!

Aniesia Williams - Contemporary Soul Singer Extraordinaire!

Aniesia Williams has become one of the fastest rising talents in the R&B genre. With a voice that soothes the soul, Ms. Williams has won over the hearts of many listeners who have heard her music or watched her perform live onstage. A native of music-rich North Carolina, Aniesia’s story began in her school’s gospel choir. Throughout her years singing in various ensembles, Aniesia trained both her voice and ear to enable her to bellow out some of the most well-known gospel songs in music. As her faith lead to her sing in church, the response from the congregation led Aniesia to believe she had been given a blessing. Now, she is determined to share that gift with the world.

Ms. Williams, emigrated to the Washington, D.C. Metro area, the next locale to witness the Aniesia Williams experience. A natural southern belle, Aniesia’s charm brought something different to the music scene and she began to blossom. Not only has Aniesia begun to perform live in local venues, and get local radio stations from her hometown to play her music, but she has also appeared in national publications such as Rolling Out Magazine. Aniesia recently won the Black Enterprise/American Express Idol competition (2009), which won her a seat at the Annual Black Enterprise Conference, which took place in San Diego, CA. Ms. Williams is also the CEO of a government contracting company, which provides services to the Information Technology, Construction, Security and Facilities Management circuits.

Word of her performances and voice has made its way through the streets and more people are becoming converted fans. Aniesia’s presence is now being requested at different venues and various events. Since she believes in honing her craft, you can find her at different Open Mic spots throughout the DC area, such as the Loft Warehouse or at Up & Up at Liv Night Club.

Aniesia is currently working on her debut album, while continuously performing. Her album is due out in early 2011, with the first single release due out in Fall 2010, which will be available at various online outlets. Aniesia’s current single, “Can’t Be a Fool”, has been ranked in the Top 20 among DC area artists on

Reverbnation.com, and is now available for download at all of the major online music stores.
