Temptation: Confessions Of A Marriage Counselor Trailer

As an event planner for the past 15 years, I have done my fair share of weddings. I have orchestrated unions from two people on a secluded beach to large-scale galas with ballrooms dripping in crystal. One thing that I can say is, the business of marriage is a tricky one. We all need things in a relationship and we all need to give within the relationship as well. If anything tips the scales too far in either direction...problems ensue. I LOVE Tyler Perry movies and this one is going to walk down a road that I feel his previous Why Did I Get Married? films did not dare touch. Perry always pushes the envelope, while giving us quality projects. The cast looks amazing and I will be front row when it premieres!

Men Are BIG Babies!

LOLOL! Yeah, I knew that post title would make you click! I will explain more on that in a few...read on, good people!

I just wanted to share one of my personal FAVES from the web! I have been wanting to blog about it for some time and I am finally getting around to it.

In case you have not realized, the world wide web is the new television! I think this is due to the lack of original programming on mainstream tv and folks are looking for something unique.

I happened upon this series several months ago and it has been an addiction ever since! The webisodes are short and simple...quite frankly, they make you want more! By they, I mean director Dennis Dortch and his amazing band of merry cast members and writers making up Black&Sexy TV.  The "Couple" is played by Ms. Numma Perrier and Mr. Desmond Faison, who completely suck you into their little world with private moments, hilarious quips and insider couples conversation.

This crew of young mavericks have come together to create five different web series that are seriously taking young Black directors and Thespians to new heights. If you are not familiar with these webisodes...get caught up before the movie comes out! YES! These genius gurus are making a movie <~ from donations for a 90-minute version of The Couple!

There is so much I can say about Black&Sexy TV, but simply put, they take everyday situations between couples that most people don't see and put them into a few minutes of impeccable writing and execution. Honestly, that explanation doesn't even do it justice, you just have to watch to see what I mean. The finale of The Couple is tonight at 7pm EST on YouTube, so be sure to tune in!

Thank you Dennis Dortch (Director/Writer), Jeanine Daniels (Co-Creator/Writer), Brian Ali-Harding (Cinematographer) and Nikki Love (Producer) for sharing your talents! I am excited and looking forward to the movie!

Check out one of my favorite episodes called Laid Up from The Couple and you will see exactly what my blog post title means...LOL! Enjoy!

Congratulations To Octavia Spencer On Winning The Best Supporting Actress Oscar!

Spencer is a native of Montgomery, Alabama, which she claims is the proverbial buckle of the Bible belt. She's the sixth of seven siblings and holds a BS in Liberal Arts from Auburn University. A "closet" lover of acting, this practical Alabamian knew that she'd someday work in the film industry, but never dreamed it would be in front of the camera. In 1995, acclaimed director Joel Schumacher changed all that by giving her a small part opposite Sandra Bullock in the hit film A Time to Kill, and Spencer was on her way. In 1996, she teamed up with Bullock again in Bullock's directorial debut of Making Sandwiches, a short film that premiered at the 1997 Sundance Film Festival.

Spencer made her stage debut in Los Angeles and originated the role of "LaSonia" (pronounced lasagna) in famed writer/director Del Shore's, The Trials and Tribulations of a Trailer Trash Housewife, starring opposite veteran actors Beth Grant, Dale Dickey and David Steen (2003). The play garnered Spencer and her fellow cast mates critical acclaim and a bevy of awards. Since then, Spencer has continued to see success as an actor in both film and television, working alongside Hollywood's elite. In February 2009, she was lauded by Los Angeles Times publication: The Envelope, for her brief but memorable performance in the Will Smith drama Seven Pounds.

MOVIE REVIEW - JUST WRIGHT

Ok!  I know I may be a little biased since I do the weather for DJ Dummy's Breakfast Club and his connection with Common, but no...I shall be objective. LOL!

The honest truth is.............this movie was GREAT!  Common has had small roles in other movies and this was a smart step into a lead role.  The debonair yet sporty character was a wonderful mix.  The entire cast supported each other very well and it kept the film moving at a steady pace.  For the ladies, *clutching my pearls*...there are some chestical muscle scenes...YAAAAYESSS!  And for the fellas...Queen Latifah and Paula Patton brought flavor for the man who is looking for a little of everythaaaang! For the sports types, there was just enough basketball to keep you interested, along with the feel-good story line.  I will not spoil the plot of the movie, but I will say Common does his thing, Queen holds it down and Paula brings up the rear with her quirky, but lovable character!

PLEASE GET OUT AND SEE THE MOVIE!  SUPPORT JUST WRIGHT!

NO MORE CREAMY CRACK!

Good Hair opens nationwide October 23, 2009! THANK YOU Chris Rock, for showing the ins and outs of the struggle with self image in the Black Community. For me, I have decided to abandon the creamy crack. Don't worry, I will wait while you hyperlink to read the definition... :) I stopped straight-perming my hair 7 years ago. I have COMPLETELY gone natural and I now get my own hair done up in twists or braids. It was a VERY hard decision and I have to admit, I almost broke down and gave in to the perm a few weeks ago. LOL! I saw how long my hair had gotten and thought how "luxurious" it would look being straightened. I decided that was it! I am done with the burning perms of the creamy crack addiction and I will continue to be a 100% natural hair girl! Now, I don't fault any Black woman for perming her hair, since I did it for many years, but I am at a different time of my life now. I like this look and I am sticking to it! With that said, I look forward to Chris Rock's new documentary and would love to compare notes with anyone who goes to see it. If you were fortunate to see it in the select cities recently, feel free to comment and share your thoughts.

I Didn't Know My Own Strength...

I just came back from seeing I Can Do Bad All By Myself (a wonderful movie by Tyler Perry). IT WAS AMAAAAAZING! I actually went by myself...something that I needed to do. We all need to do that from time-to-time, take in a movie on your own...walk by the lake, on your own...take a drive, on your own...It is inspiring to hear your thoughts without outside distractions. I almost feel that some folks are scared to think, so they drown themselves in the everyday noise of the world. I love a REALLY good movie and this was one of them! And please...when you go to a Tyler Perry movie...don't bring negative people with you...bring positive, uplifting, mature, fun folks along who will actually GET IT.

Folks keep talking about Mr. Perry's movies as if the crazy and zany Madea is all there is to see! In Mr. Perry's movies there always lies a message...ALWAYS...just don't be laughing so hard that you miss it! I laughed, I cried, I got mad and laughed some more!!!  PLEASE support this movie! I don't care what background you come from, you will appreciate it!  You will be brought up and down emotionally...you will even get a little "church" before it's all over...LOL!  Don't miss this film...the message is URGENT!

*My Thanks*
If you ever read this Mr. Perry, THANK YOU!!! You are a SPECIAL gift from God and I am SERIOUS about that! There is a reason why you are here and do what you do! I wish nothing but success for you and all the endeavors you set your brilliant mind to! I also look forward to the new movie Precious, coming out November 6th!

Seeing this wonderful film, also led me to post this clip of the incomparable Whitney Houston. I know most of us have seen her recent two-part interview on Oprah and you haven't, please do! This woman has risen from the ashes into a phoenix! Her story mirrors Mr. Perry's movie to a tee! The words of her new song, speak volumes to anyone that will actually listen...Enjoy and always Stay Lovely!
