Fashionista Fix!

Yes, I know, it has been a long while since I have posted!  I have promised myself that I will update my blog in a timely manner going forward.  I have had a lot going on in the past few months....more on that later, but I wanted to do a little shout out to all my curvy ladies!

My sister and I had the complete pleasure of attending and being a sponsor at last year's Full Figure Fashion Week, in my hometown of New York City.  It was amazing!  Everywhere you looked, there were beautiful, curvy sisters in high fashion frock.  Proud and walking the runway, in statuesque motion, were these inspirational women, unaffected by society's standards of beauty.  They carved out their own path of style and worked it on the runway something fierce!   I was SO impressed by the fashions of Monif C., and IGIGI, I vowed to buy a few pieces from each of them before the year was out...and I did!  The fashion, music and wonderful vibes put my sister and I in such a great mood.  I am thankful we shared the experience together!

Here is some video of last year's finale runway event.  If you look reeeeeeeally close, I am sitting to the right of the runway...lol!  Never-the-less, it was an awesome night and I highly recommend it for any plus-size divas or lovers of us curvy gals! ;)

WHO'S IN YOUR NETWORK?

Once again...Networking event success! Lovlies...I am just a little late posting this up, since the event has happened, but it was WONDERFUL! I was battling a wicked cold that week of the event, but I made it there...though extremely tired and worn! LOL!

The new Westin Hotel in Annapolis is EVERYTHING! The event was hosted by The Perfect Wedding Guide. They have a wonderful online space as well as a powerful mini-magazine that is FULL of event goodies! I did not know what to expect at a luncheon that was in the middle of the day and during the week...but I was pleasantly surprised at the PACKED turnout! It was like a wedding reception in the noontime! LOVED it!

I hob-nobbed...of course...with some of the greats in the biz, including Lynyette Richardson-Hall of "Whose Wedding Is It Anyway" fame. Very sweet and I truly believe that she does not know how many people ADORE her, but I made sure to let her know! LOL!

All-in-all it was excellent company, srumptious food and a business card exchange on overdrive! I must say, it gave me a sense of accomplishment to be in the same company of other "creatives" like myself. The new Westin Annapolis is georgeous and my pictures don't even do it justice...but PLEASE check them out, if ever scooting by the Annapolis area....I already have some brides inquiring of the new place, so I look forward to hosting an event there! Also, I hear that another new Holiday Inn Hotel is launching in Baltimore...and you better believe...YOUR GIRL will be there... ;)

I'm Engaged!

Okay, maybe not engaged for marriage...since I am already taken by my sweetie! I mean that I am engaged in the Event Planning Business! Lovlies, I just got back from the most wonderful afternoon with the Great Preston Bailey (Event Designer) and Sylvia Weinstock (Cake Designer)! They were guest speakers for Engaged! Magazine's Bridal Event at the Willard Hotel in Washington, DC. It was a wonderful turnout and the featured vendors were awesome! Preston did a book signing and Sylvia worked the crowd, taking pictures and chatting with her many fans. I also made some friends during the day...a wonderful and talented group of young people that I will be keeping in touch with! Thank You, Thank You, Thank You...It was meant for all of us to meet... :) It was absolutely amazing to be in the company of so many great vendors and engaged ladies looking to two of the masters for inspiration! Click the picture for more information!

Preston gave a wonderful talk on his inspirations, failures, highs and lows of the business. He acknowledges that he is still learning and continues to get inspired himself...hence his new book Inspirations. Click his picture for more information!

Sylvia may be tiny in stature, but she has a big heart and big ideas. She mentioned how she and her staff WELCOME a challenge! She also spoke of her early days in the business and how much she has enjoyed watching the business evolve. She is truly an inspiring woman to meet and chat with! Click her picture for more information!

More Pictures From The Event!

....and look at your girl getting some Preston love...LOL!!! (Compliments to my new friend, Kenny!)

Hope You Enjoyed The Pictures From My Wonderful Day At The Willard & Stay Lovely!

Great Books To Help Plan Your Perfect Soiree!

I love a good read! It has been a great pastime of mine to get into a solid piece of literature. Whether it was about a mystery, cooking or an adventure, I always had a great book by my side. I loved reading and writing so much, that I studied Journalism and went on to earn a degree in the darn thing!

Lately, my favorite reading happens to be anything on event planning. I get so many ideas from my mini library. I take an idea and ask myself how I can improve on it. It doesn't take long before I am immersed in a crafting project and my living room looks like a battlefield of scrap paper and hole punches!

My husband is always saying that I am a motivator. He says that he sees me working on a project and feels the need to focus on something he likes as well. I know I am not alone judging from the long lines at Michael's Craft Store...LOL!!!

These books are just a sampling of what has inspired me over the years and I hope you find them as useful as I did! Click on the books to go to our Amazon.com Storefront, where you will find even more goodies...some naughty...some nice... ;)
