Good Hair opens nationwide October 23, 2009! THANK YOU Chris Rock, for showing the ins and outs of the struggle with self image in the Black Community. For me, I have decided to abandon the creamy crack. Don't worry, I will wait while you hyperlink to read the definition... :) I stopped straight-perming my hair 7 years ago. I have COMPLETELY gone natural and I now get my own hair done up in twists or braids. It was a VERY hard decision and I have to admit, I almost broke down and gave in to the perm a few weeks ago. LOL! I saw how long my hair had gotten and thought how "luxurious" it would look being straightened. I decided that was it! I am done with the burning perms of the creamy crack addiction and I will continue to be a 100% natural hair girl! Now, I don't fault any Black woman for perming her hair, since I did it for many years, but I am at a different time of my life now. I like this look and I am sticking to it! With that said, I look forward to Chris Rock's new documentary and would love to compare notes with anyone who goes to see it. If you were fortunate to see it in the select cities recently, feel free to comment and share your thoughts.
